WU Xin is a PhD candidate co-supervised by Prof. Matthias Freise, Prof. Axel Schneider, and Prof. Song Binghui. Her current research focuses on Sino-foreign literary relations and world literature. In her dissertation, she approaches world literature through a dialogue between two theoretical frameworks: the “literary space” of French scholar Pascale Casanova and the “elements of world literature” of Chinese scholar Chen Sihe.
From 2017 to 2020, she studied at Shanghai International Studies University and the University of Bayreuth, earning a double master’s degree in Intercultural Anglophone Studies and Comparative Literature and English Language. She began her doctoral studies in 2021, and from 2022 to 2024, she participated in the joint training program between Shanghai International Studies University and the University of Göttingen. Since August 2024, she has been working as a research assistant in the Department of East Asian Studies.
In 2024, her article “Inside and Outside the Text: Rereading Casanova and the ‘World’ Republic of Letters” was published in Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art. Her translation of Virginia Woolf’s diary, titled Writing It Down, The Pain Will Pass (《写下来，痛苦就会过去》), was published by CITIC Press. Additionally, she wrote a book chapter and several papers for social science projects at SISU from 2022 to 2024.
