Haifeng Weng is currently a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Axel Schneider. His research primarily focuses on intellectual history and conceptual history, with a keen interest in incorporating a global perspective. He began his Ph.D. studies in 2023, investigating the formation of the concept of linear time in China from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republican period (1874-1923) and its effects on individuals’ sense of time and decision-making in history.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism, with a minor in International Politics, from Fudan University in 2020. Afterward, he pursued a master’s degree in modern Sinology at the University of Göttingen, where he wrote his thesis on Zhang Junmai’s New Confucian conception of mind-matter dualism.

Since 2023, Haifeng has served as an assistant in the Department of East Asian Studies and at the Center for Modern East Asian Studies (CeMEAS).
